All vitamins and minerals play a vital role in keeping our bodies healthy. However, some are far more important than others. This is why you need some nutrients more than others. Having a well-balanced diet can be difficult. Especially if you are working full time. Here is a list of the nutrients that you need to prioritise when it comes to your diet.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is the first one on the list and it is something that we require a lot. It also plays a massive role in keeping our bodies healthy. For starters, it keeps all your vital organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, as well as more healthy. Not to mention that it is important for the reproductive, vision and immune system.
There are plenty of foods out there that contain Vitamin A. Beef liver, salmon, broccoli, carrots, squash, green leafy vegetables, cantaloupe, apricots, mangoes, dairy products and fortified cereals. Many other foods contain vitamin A as well so it is something that you should not worry about being deficient in.
Vitamin B
There are multiple vitamin B’s out there. There are 8 in total which is all just as important. They are needed for multiple things such as converting carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy. Not to mention that some B vitamins are needed for cell development, growth and function.
These can be found in meat, poultry, fish, organ meats, eggs, legumes, seeds, nuts, whole grains, bread and pasta. Again there are other foods out there that have your B vitamins in so make sure you browse online to see what you can implement in your diet.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is essential for boosting the immune system and also helps with the absorption of Iron. It also helps protect your cells from free radicals that can be highly damaging to your health.
This vitamin can often be found in citrus fruits and juices, kiwi fruit, peppers, strawberries, tomatoes, baked potatoes and many more. Vitamin C is important for improving our immune system so if you do not enjoy your fruit and vegetables then consider taking vitamin c tablets.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is needed for building strong bones, helps absorb calcium and also boosts the functioning of the immune system. You can produce vitamin D by coming into contact with the sun or by obtaining it through food.
Doctors have recently suggested that we take vitamin D tablets to make up for the lack of sunlight that we got last year due to lockdown. This is more for those people who didn’t have a garden to enjoy and were stuck in an apartment.
Summary
There are many more vitamins and minerals out there that are essential for our body. You must have a balanced diet to make sure you get all the right nutrients. These all have different roles to play when it comes to keeping your body healthy.
